Beazell Memorial Forest Hike, Enjoy autumn foliage at Beazell Memorial Forest, a 586-acre natural area that Fred Beazell donated upon his death in April 2000 as a memorial to his wife Dolores May Anthony Beazell. We will hike the Plunkett Creek Trail through a conservation forest as we enjoy the canopy from new and old growth trees. Share with us as we reminisce why the Beazells fell in love with this natural area and why it is special today. Come learn why this habitat is crucial to the Taylor’s Checkerspot Butterfly and recent conservation work by Benton County. So, lace up your hiking shoes as we explore this beautiful land nestled in historic Kings Valley. |

Bring your entire family for hands-on natural resource activities from over 40 conservation-minded organizations. Visit our booth as we partner with the Audubon Society of Corvallis to explore this year’s KDC theme, “What’s in your Watershed?” Learn about owls, butterflies, and native plants on this fun-filled day. Cider and cookies will be served as we learn about restoration work at this beautiful farm in north Corvallis. From Corvallis, Eugene, and Albany: Drive 99W approximately 6 miles north of Corvallis until you turn left into a gravel road past the hospital. From Portland, Salem, and areas north of Corvallis: Drive 99W south past Lewisburg until you eventually turn right into a gravel road just past the Habitat Restoration Sign. Luckiamute State Natural Area Hike, Hike with us on this state-owned natural area, located near the Benton-Polk County line at the confluence of the Willamette, Santiam, and Luckiamute Rivers. Join us for a festive fall hike as we enjoy the fall foliage of the cottonwoods and other native trees. This diverse natural area is home to the Western Pond Turtle and numerous bird species including green-winged teal, mallard ducks, and majestic herons. If you prefer to carpool, meet us at the Corvallis Rite-Aid parking lot off of 9th Street. Steve Lilly will be parked beside the Coffee Culture kiosk and wearing an orange jacket. If you want to meet us there, here are the directions: From Corvallis: Drive 99W North for 7 miles until you turn right on Camp Adair Road (look for the Camp Adair flags and monuments). Turn left on Buena Vista Road. Continue on Buena Vista Road for 1 mile until you turn right on Springhill Drive. Continue on Springhill Drive for ½ mile until you turn left on Buena Vista Rd. Continue on Buena Vista for 1 mile before you turn right before the first bridge marked by a Green locator sign with #8989 embedded on it. Continue on this road until you reach the parking lot at the end. |

McDowell Creek County Park Hike, Linn County, Join us as we hike with our neighbors to the east in beautiful Linn County. We will hike streamside along McDowell Creek as we enjoy the natural beauty of Royal Terrace Falls and Majestic Falls. Due to the commute, Dial-A-Bus will be provided for the first twenty people that RSVP. If more than 20 RSVP, carpool arrangements will be provided. |

City of Corvallis - Bald Hill Trail Workday We will be meeting by the Bald Hill barn on Saturday, November 3, starting at 9:00am. Bald Hill Park is an exceptionally popular outdoor recreation site that needs periodic attention to keep the trails safe and useable. Our tasks will focus on water diversion, trail brush trimming, and trail regrading where needed. We'll be working through to noon; tools, work materials, work gloves, and water will be provided for all - in addition to powered hauling equipment. Ankeny Wildlife Refuge Hike, Marion County, Walk with us along an elevated boardwalk at this National Wildlife Refuge as we observe vital wintering habitat for Dusky Canada Geese and other waterfowl. Learn why this is a special place for birds and the conservation work US Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) is doing in Jefferson. Walk with us and learn how this habitat relates to other national wildlife refuges like Baskett Slough and William F. Finley National Refuge. Bring your binoculars and cameras! |
