Owens Farm
The Greenbelt Land Trust purchased 95 acres of the Owens Farm property in 2002. The Greenbelt raised over $1 million from private donors to help purchase this important open space property. The GLT’s 95 acres includes oak woodland and savannah habitats, riparian woodlands, and wetland and upland prairie habitats. The GLT has begun restoration in partnership with US Fish and Wildlife Service ‘Private Lands Partnership Program’ and the City of Corvallis to clear out the invasive understory within the oak woodlands, and to convert farmed wetlands to wet prairies. The GLT is working to secure funds to continue the on-going effort to restore the entire property and maintain it in the future.

Lupine Meadows
The Greenbelt Land Trust is working to permanently protect this site near Philomath that contains approximately 20 acres of rare upland prairie habitat and 40 acres of riparian and wetland prairie habitats. This site contains several endangered species on the upland portion, including Kincaid’s lupine and Fenders blue butterfly. We are working to initiate the restoration of the upland prairie by removing the unwanted vegetation and invasive grasses. To enhance the Kincaid’s lupine population we are working with Philomath High School to grow out lupine seedlings from seeds gathered at this site.
